Volunteer: Volunteer on our Sheldon Street farm in exchange for fresh farm veggies!

The Volunteer Work Share Program offers community members the opportunity to earn fresh produce in exchange for hands-on support with farm operations. Volunteers commit to regular shifts and engage in meaningful work that supports local food access and sustainable agriculture.


Eligibility and Commitment

Age Requirement: 16+ (with guardian consent for minors)

Season Commitment: Minimum 4 weeks preferred

Weekly Hours: Typically 3–6 hours per week

Agreement: Sign a Volunteer Agreement & Liability Waiver


Work Exchange Model

Hours-to-Produce Rate: 1.5–2 hours = 1 share (CSA equivalent value)

Share Contents: Weekly seasonal produce box (~$20–25 value)

Pickup: Thursday during CSA pickup or at an alternate arranged time.


Volunteer Roles & Expectations Core Tasks:

Seeding, transplanting

Bed prep and mulching

Harvesting and post-harvest wash/pack

Compost and garden maintenance


Expectations:

Show up on time with appropriate gear

Stay for the whole shift unless previously arranged

Report any issues or injuries

Be open to teamwork and physical labor in all weather


Contingency & Cancellations

Rain Days: Offer indoor or “make-up” tasks (cleaning, organizing, label making)

No-Shows: 2 unexcused absences may lead to dismissal from the program
